Sompo International has announced the appointment of Alasdair Walker as regional head of distribution insurance for Asia Pacific.
In this new role, Walker will be based in Singapore and report to Paul O’Neill, Sompo International president of commercial lines, insurance, Asia Pacific.
According to his LinkedIn, Walker joins Sompo from Allianz, where he spent over 12 years across several key regional roles, including in Singapore, South Africa, and UK. He holds executive MBAs from the ESSEC Business School and Mannheim Business School as well as an MA in history from the University of Edinburgh.
“Alasdair’s appointment represents a continuation of Sompo International’s expansion through high-calibre hires in the APAC region,” O’Neill said. “His wide range of experience across distribution channels and product lines, coupled with his commitment to deliver superior client service, leaves him singularly well-positioned to further develop our network in APAC. Recently, the insurer launched a cybersecurity centre and software development group in Israel as part of the expansion of its digital lab in the country.
