Singapore-based insurtech firm Surer has appointed Yue Mei Yuan (pictured above) as chief technology officer.
In this role, Yue will lead Surer’s technology team and drive the delivery of its product roadmap in support of the company’s growth plans. He will become part of the firm’s senior leadership team, alongside co-founders Gordon Tay, Derren Teo and Renfred Tay.
“We pride ourselves as a tech-first company and it is crucial that our senior tech hires have a good mix of technical expertise as well as experience in leading a growing pool of tech talents,” Tay said. “I am confident that Mei Yuan will be an invaluable asset to the company and will bolster our goal of building a world-class tech team with his collaborative and mentoring oriented approach. His experience in driving engineering best practices will also strengthen the foundation of Surer as a tech solution for many years to come in the insurance industry.”
Yue joined Surer from SPH Media, one of the two largest media companies in Singapore, where he was head of delivery and technology business partner. Prior to that, he was assistant vice president for engineering at loyalty marketing firm Ascentis, where he led a team of 20 developers.
“Surer is a young company and I see the potential of being able to have a hand in moulding not only the technical aspects of the product, but also that of its culture and vision,” Yue said. “I am excited to contribute to the company’s growth, both from a technical and talent standpoint.”
