Commercial property insurer FM has entered into a multi-year partnership with professional golfer Rory McIlroy.

The collaboration, set to begin in February, also extends FM’s existing relationship with Boston Common Golf, a team in the TGL golf league co-founded by McIlroy.

As part of the agreement, McIlroy will host and participate in client engagement events for FM. Additionally, FM’s logo will feature on McIlroy’s golf bag during select tournaments. McIlroy joins Megan Khang, a top-ranked LPGA golfer, as an FM brand ambassador.

The partnership aims to leverage McIlroy’s global influence alongside FM’s business initiatives to promote the concept of resilience.

Since turning professional in 2008, McIlroy has achieved 37 professional victories, including four major championships: the 2011 U.S. Open, the 2012 and 2014 PGA Championships, and the 2014 Open Championship. McIlroy has also been a member of five winning European Ryder Cup teams.

FM chairman and CEO Malcolm Roberts said that McIlroy’s international profile aligns with the company’s goal of expanding its global presence.

“Rory’s global recognition makes him the perfect partner for FM as we deliver new products and solutions and bring the power of resilience to new territories globally. We look forward to working with Rory and his team to support his continued success in 2025 and beyond.”

David Johnson, FM’s senior vice president and chief client experience officer, highlighted McIlroy’s reputation both on and off the course.

“We've seen firsthand how we can provide unique, once-in-a-lifetime experiences to our clients, prospective clients and business partners. We couldn't be more excited about working with Rory and his team,” Johnson said.

McIlroy expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasising FM’s global ambitions and his connection to the company through their shared involvement in TGL. He said he looks forward to supporting FM’s efforts to expand its reach internationally.

This partnership is part of FM’s broader efforts to strengthen its brand and expand its sports initiatives. In recent years, FM has launched the FM Championship on the LPGA Tour, which offers one of the largest prize funds outside of the majors. It also entered into a sponsorship agreement with Megan Khang for the 2024 and 2025 LPGA seasons.

In July 2024, FM announced a rebrand to reflect its evolving business strategy and nearly two centuries of global operations. The company further solidified its presence in the golf industry through its partnership with Boston Common Golf, a TGL-affiliated team, marking a significant step in its association with innovative sports ventures.
