The Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) held its first-ever risk management forum in China, with major insurance industry figures present.
The inaugural RIMS Risk Management Forum China was held on November 22 in Beijing, with an audience of close to 200 corporate risk management and insurance professionals. Attendees came from Chinese government agencies, state-owned firms, private companies, and from academia.
Among the topics discussed were:
- Benefits of implementing enterprise risk management (ERM) in multinational companies
- Cyber security
- Risk transfer
- Implementation of a global insurance program
- Development and certification for risk management professionals
- China’s One Belt One Road Initiative
“RIMS is fortunate to have so many influential partners in China who have graciously supported our society and allowed RIMS to deliver an impactful program to its risk management community,” said RIMS chief executive Mary Roth. “It has been an honour to hear from industry thought leaders in the region. We sincerely thank those partners, our speakers and attendees and look forward to continuing to build upon these new relationships.”
RIMS is a not-for-profit professional organisation for risk management professionals with around 11,000 members worldwide in over 60 countries. This year, it hosted forums in Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, India, and the United States. Another event in India and one in the UAE are to be held in December.
