Ping An Insurance has appointed Steven D. Winegar (pictured) as international general counsel and overseas company lawyer. He is responsible for the insurer’s global legal and compliance matters.
Winegar has over 24 years of experience in law firm and in-house positions. He began his career in the US as a corporate attorney at Shearman & Sterling and Goldman Sachs. He then relocated to Hong Kong with Goldman Sachs in 2005, becoming managing director and senior counsel at the bank before returning to private practice in 2010 when he joined Paul Hastings.
He served as partner and chairperson of Paul Hastings’ Hong Kong office before joining Ping An in September 2018.
“Mr. Winegar has a strong reputation with extensive experience in the legal sector in Asia and globally,” said Ip So Lan, senior vice president and head of internal control at Ping An said. “We are very pleased to have him as part of our leadership team.”
According to a statement by the insurer, the appointment is part of its commitment to attract top international talent to enhance its corporate governance and accelerate international transformation.
