The Insurance Authority (IA) has alerted the public about a phishing scam involving text messages that falsely claim to be from HKMC Annuity Limited (HKMCA).
The fraudulent messages are designed to deceive recipients into sharing personal information or conducting unauthorized transactions. They are sent under the name "香港年金文職."
HKMCA has confirmed that it is not connected to these messages. The incident has also been reported to the Hong Kong Police Force, which is now investigating the matter.
The IA urges anyone who may have interacted with the scammers to immediately contact HKMCA at (852) 2512-5000 and report the incident to the Hong Kong Police Force.
