Pacific Life Re has appointed Andrew Gill as managing director of its Australia and Asia business units.
Prior to the expansion of his role, Gill was managing director of the life reinsurer’s Australia division and a member of the company’s global executive team. He had led the Australian unit since it was established in 2015.
According to a statement by Pacific Life Re, Gill’s leadership saw the Australian team establishing key partnerships with many leading group and retail insurers as well as introducing the UnderwriteMe technology to the Australian market. He has over 20 years of experience in the life insurance industry, working in a variety of roles ranging from appointed actuary to business development and marketing across Australia and other markets worldwide.
“With Asia poised to become the next high-growth market, we are more committed than ever to further build on our high-calibre team so that we can continue to deliver outstanding levels of support to our clients in Asia,” said David Howell, CEO of Pacific Life Re. “Given Andrew’s successful track record in Australia and his vast and varied experience, we are confident that he has the right expertise and knowledge to lead the Asia team as they continue to grow rapidly.”
