Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Singaporean Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Finance and Education, will be the keynote speaker and guest of honour at the 16th Singapore International Reinsurance Conference (SIRC).
Rajah will deliver the keynote address on October 30, before an expected audience of over 1,000 delegates from the insurance, reinsurance, and broking communities, a statement from the SIRC organising committee said.
“We are delighted to welcome Minister Indranee Rajah as guest of honour to this year’s SIRC,” said Marc Haushofer, chairman of the Singapore Reinsurers’ Association. “This will be the third consecutive SIRC where a senior government minister will be officiating and delivering a keynote address at the SIRC, following then-Minister for Finance and present Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat at last year’s 15th SIRC and then Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang at the 14th SIRC in 2017.”
“This underlines the Singapore government’s strong support of the re/insurance industry’s role in cementing Singapore’s position as a global financial hub,” he added.
The conference, which will take place from October 29 to November 01, will revolve around the theme ‘Winds of Change’ and discuss pressing industry issues, such as the increasing frequency and severity of extreme weather events caused by climate change, industry disruption and digital transformation, as well as the sustainability of the re/insurance business model as operating margins narrow.
Joining Rajah in the line-up of renowned industry speakers are Lloyd’s of London CEO John Neal, Allianz Re CEO Amer Ahmed, Swiss Re group chief economist Jerome Jean Haegeli, Willis Towers Watson CEO, capital science and policy (CSP) practice Rowan Douglas, Guy Carpenter CEO (International) James Nash, Trust Re Group CEO Talal Al Zain, and Allianz Asia-Pacific CEO for property & casualty Claudia Salem.
