Markel International has appointed James S. Guardino as a trade credit and political risk underwriter, based in Singapore.
Guardino will report to Nicholas Davies, senior underwriter for trade credit and political risk at Markel International in Asia. He will work closely with the global trade credit and political risk team to serve clients and develop business across Asia-Pacific and the wider Markel business. He has 10 years of working experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry and has previously held roles at Aon and, most recently, at Texel Asia.
The appointment will help boost Markel’s underwriting capability in the Asian trade credit and political risk market, the company said.
“We are looking forward to having James join the team in the midst of expanding our Asia capabilities,” Davies said. “With his experience as a broker, he brings an additional skill set to complement our existing offering, as we look to develop our trade credit and political risk solutions across Asia-Pacific.”
“In tandem with our goals of expanding our business in Asia and hiring excellent underwriting talent, we are excited to have James onboard,” said Christian Stobbs, managing director of Markel International in Asia. “We believe that with his appointment, Markel will be able to extend its underwriting capabilities in the trade credit and political risk sector within the region.”
