Manulife has announced it has appointed Maryscott (Scotty) Greenwood as global head of government relations, effective Oct. 16.
In her new position, Greenwood will serve as a member of the company’s global leadership team, reporting to the general counsel of Manulife, James D. Gallagher.
"We're pleased to have Scotty join Manulife to oversee our government relations activities," said Gallagher. "With her keen insights into the public policy environment impacting business, extensive experience in government relations between Canada and the US, and international diplomatic relations, she will be a tremendous asset to our organization."
Greenwood previously served as a founding partner of Crestview Strategy US LLC, a government relations consultancy. She also was managing director and group co-leader at Dentons US LLP. Before that, she served at the US Embassy in Ottawa, Canada as a presidentially appointed US diplomat.
She is the current CEO of the Canadian American Business Council, a bilateral trade association whose members are Fortune 500 companies, entrepreneurs, and Indigenous leaders. She is also a board member of The Foundation for Art & Preservation in Embassies and The District Cup Foundation.
Previously, she served as a board member of NASDAQ-listed company Tilray and the Ottawa-based Spartan Bioscience.
