Three major insurers hauled in the prizes at the Bloomberg BusinessWeek Financial Institution Awards 2018, held on May 25 in Hong Kong.
FWD Insurance was recognised as “insurtech company of the year” and brought home a total of 10 awards on its home turf. These include excellence awards for digital innovation, integrated marketing, medical care, and mobile application usability. FWD was also named an outstanding firm for its critical illness, cross-order insurance, customer service, health & protection, and online platform.
“These multiple honours go a long way towards recognising the competitiveness, innovative nature and overwhelmingly positive market response to FWD’s innovative products and services, attentive customer service, and trailblazing insurtech initiatives,” said Ken Lau, FWD’s managing director for Greater China. “This significant achievement, which handsomely rewards our efforts across the company, would not have been achieved without our teams’ passionate and constant dedication to our customers, and exceptional drive to consistently surprise and surpass market expectations.”
British insurer Prudential tallied eight awards, including “insurance company of the year”. This is Prudential’s fourth consecutive year winning the top award.
Prudential gained excellence awards in the following categories: health & protection, corporate social responsibility, customer service, online platform, and training academy; as well as outstanding awards for digital innovation and total solution service in the general insurance sector.
“We are honoured to be named the insurance company of the year by the Bloomberg BusinessWeek for the fourth year in a row, along with many other top awards,” said Derek Yung, CEO of Prudential. “Driven by our business philosophy of ‘always listening, always understanding’, Prudential is not only known for its excellence in our service offerings, but also our commitment as a good corporate citizen, a good employer and a good listener to our customers.”
Meanwhile, Canada’s Manulife scooped six awards. It won three excellence awards for savings plans, retirement plans, and life insurance; and three outstanding awards for critical illness, health & protection, and medical care.
“It was a tremendous pleasure to receive such a prestigious set of awards,” said Guy Mills, CEO of Manulife Hong Kong. “It reaffirms our commitment to simplicity, exemplifies our customer-first spirit and confirms our product innovation capability and the diversity of our product offerings.”
