In his new role, Baker is tasked with the enhancement of Howden's proposition for large clients within the Asian region. His focus will be on serving multinational companies and organizations that face complex risk challenges across Asia. Baker's expertise will be particularly directed towards areas of growing client interest, including energy transition, cyber, climate, and political risk.
Baker's career in the insurance industry commenced in 1985. His experience includes international roles in underwriting and broking, having been based in London, Sydney, and Singapore. Prior to joining Howden, he served at Aon as a strategic account manager for Asia.
His professional journey also includes a nine-year tenure at Willis Towers Watson (WTW), where he held several senior positions, including head of corporate, property and casualty, and global client relationship manager.

I am excited about the opportunity to work with the talented team in Howden Asia and across the group, leveraging our collective power to provide innovative solutions for clients,” Baker said.
Baker will be integrating his efforts with Howden’s Multinational Client Practice, utilising the network's comprehensive specialisms, reinsurance, and analytical capabilities. This integration aims to ensure that Asian and multinational clients have unobstructed access to the group's resources and services.
Baker, who will be stationed in Singapore, will report to Goh Chye Huat, CEO of Howden Asia. His appointment takes effect immediately.

In other recent developments in the region, Howden also announced significant changes to its leadership team in Hong Kong, with the most prominent involving Alfred Sham as he takes the role of interim CEO for Howden Hong Kong.
