Hong Kong’s Insurance Authority (IA) has announced the next edition of its annual flagship event, the Asian Insurance Forum (AIF), which will be held on Dec. 5, with the theme “Reflect, Reset, Revive for a Resilient Future”.
The event will be attended by top government officials, prominent industry leaders, including C-suite executives from major multinational insurers, and other experts. According to the IA, the gathering will reflect on market priorities and reset strategies, as Hong Kong comes back and regains growth momentum following the COVID-19 pandemic.
AIF 2022’s focus will be on the future development roadmap for the insurance industry, building on Hong Kong’s unique advantage as a bridge between mainland China and the rest of the world. It also seeks to deepen Hong Kong’s integration under the “One Country, Two Systems” principle, the regulator said.
Hong Kong SAR chief executive John Lee will deliver the keynote address, touching on the insurance industry’s contribution to reinforcing Hong Kong’s status as an international financial centre and regional insurance and reinsurance hub. In the morning session, Christopher Hui, secretary for financial services and the Treasury, and IA chief executive Clement Cheung will hold a policy dialogue on the government’s support and facilitative policy measures to drive the industry.
The afternoon session will feature a chat between Financial Secretary Paul Chan and Chan Kin-por, non-official member of the Executive Council and legislator, on the “cornerstones of success” of Hong Kong’s insurance industry. Other speakers include Liu Fushou, chief risk officer of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, and Jonathan Dixon, secretary general of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors.
