The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI), a self-regulatory body, has revealed its new set of officers for the 2018/2019 term.

The organisation’s new chairman is Pui-leung Chan of China Taiping Insurance (HK) Co., while Praveen Daswani of Generali Worldwide Insurance Co., is its new deputy chairman.

Chan is an expert in underwriting and marketing with over 30 years’ experience in general insurance. Daswani is a veteran of the international financial services sector at the regional and international levels, having held various management roles in business development, operations, and compliance.

Meanwhile, the new members of HKFI’s governing committee are David Alexander of Swiss Re, Charity Au of BOC Group Life Assurance, Eric Hui of Zurich Insurance, Mike Lee of MassMutual Asia, Guy Mills of Manulife International, Jimmy Poon of Dah Sing Insurance, Harry Wong of Hong Leong Insurance Asia, and Derek Yung of Prudential Hong Kong.

Alexander will head the organisation’s general insurance council, while Au will head its life insurance council.  The two councils deal with all technical matters concerning their respective insurance segments.

The HKFI was established in August 1988 and is recognised by the Hong Kong SAR government as the representative body for insurers and administers almost 90,000 registered insurance agents in the territory. It seeks to promote the insurance industry by upholding a high standard of ethics and professionalism among its members.
