Global risk and reinsurance specialist Guy Carpenter & Company has announced the appointment of Michael Harden (pictured) as president of Asia Pacific, effective immediately.
In his new role, Harden will expand Guy Carpenter’s range and enhance services while aligning with the firm’s focus on delivering strategic solutions and differentiated value to clients in the Asia Pacific.
He will be based in Australia and report to Tony Gallagher, chief executive officer of the Asia Pacific region at Guy Carpenter.
In a statement, the firm said Harden “brings over 45 years of reinsurance industry experience” to the position at a “time of significant evolution in the market.”
Prior to his appointment, Harden served as the president of Asia Pacific at Willis Re. He joined Willis Re Australia as a director in 1991 and later became its chief executive officer in 2006. During this time, he also served as the chief executive officer of Willis Re Bermuda.
“With over four decades of global operating experience in (re)insurance, handling specialty accounts as well as long-standing industry relationships in the Asia Pacific region, he will certainly add further depth to our already strong presence in the market,” Gallagher said. “Michael’s appointment highlights our commitment to attracting the best global talent to deliver a consistently outstanding client experience.”
