Great American Insurance SG names Vanessa Teo as deputy CEO

Great American Insurance Group has promoted Vanessa Teo to deputy chief executive officer (CEO) of its Singapore Branch.

Teo, who helped establish the Singapore branch in 2014, has played a crucial role in developing the branch's infrastructure, including finance, business and operations functions.

She has built operational frameworks spanning finance, risk management, compliance, human resources, IT, business analytics and corporate services.

In her expanded role, Teo will maintain oversight of finance and operations while taking on additional oversight responsibilities.

She brings significant expertise to the position, holding an MBA from Melbourne Business School and professional certifications including fellow, Chartered Accountant of Singapore; fellow, Chartered Accountant of the UK; and ASEAN Chartered Professional Accountant.

Insurance Business’ Elite Woman

Teo, while serving as the chief financial and operating officer at the same office in 2021, was likewise recognized as one of Insurance Business Magazine's Elite Women for that year.

Speaking of her award at the time, Teo said, “Despite the odd experience, I do not believe being a woman has held me back or altered my chance of success. Being a successful professional really comes down to personality and getting things done decisively.”

She said approach as a female professional is to be passionate about what she does to create the difference and obtain buy-in to make things happen.

“The creative landscape is always changing, so I will constantly need to keep up and innovate. Continue to strive to boost the morale of my staff and their skill sets in order to navigate in the challenging market and move the business/company forward as a team,” she said.

The Singapore branch of Great American Insurance Company serves as a hub for its Asia-Pacific operations, providing commercial insurance solutions across the region.
