Generali Hong Kong has partnered with Kowloon Tong School (Secondary Section), a part of the Project WeCan network, to bring together 60 student volunteers for an afternoon of community service.

The event supported over 50 families in partnership with OneSky, a non-governmental organisation linked to Generali and The Human Safety Net Hong Kong.

This effort was aligned with Generali’s The Human Safety Net program, which aims to foster a culture of mutual support for vulnerable communities.

The initiative provided students, who had earlier benefited from Project WeCan, an opportunity to contribute through volunteering, supporting disadvantaged children and their caregivers at OneSky. This approach enabled these former beneficiaries to give back to their communities.

“As a responsible citizen, Generali Hong Kong continues to seek ways to make a meaningful impact and encourages other organisations to join in such efforts to strengthen the community. A key part of our commitment is our proactive engagement in The Human Safety Net. With its mission to unlock the potential of people living in vulnerable circumstances, The Human Safety Net is dedicated to transforming the lives of families and communities,” said Generali Hong Kong CEO Cecilia Chang. “In Hong Kong, our focus is particularly on vulnerable families with children aged 0 to 6, aiming to provide them with the tools and opportunities to build a brighter future. We encourage other organisations to join us in this meaningful endeavour, as we work together to empower those in need and strengthen the fabric of our society.”

Students and Generali volunteers co-organised workshops where children crafted upcycled lamps and prepared desserts for their caregivers. The day included a visit to a family’s subdivided flat to offer personal assistance.

During the event, Alexia Boro, head of the home of The Human Safety Net, greeted Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi, founder and chairman of the Bangkok Art Biennale Foundation, along with other Thai artists. The program also included the premiere of a short film featuring artist Marina Abramović.

“At this event, Generali Thailand is honoured to serve as one of the sponsors, showcasing the exceptional artworks by Thai and Southeast Asian artists on the global stage in Italy. These works reflect the rich tapestry of our culture, history, and diverse way of life in the region,” Yuktanun said.

The exhibition will be held at Palazzo Smith Mangilli Valmarana, Venice, until Nov. 24, 2024.
