Generali Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) has appointed Brendan McDonald (pictured) as head of financial lines underwriting for Asia.
Based in Hong Kong, McDonald will be in charge of leading the company’s financial lines business across multiple Asian markets. He brings extensive international experience, having worked in both the UK and the Middle East.
“We are delighted to welcome Brendan to our regional team, taking over the role from Cecilia Chang who was recently promoted to the global head of financial lines underwriting,” said Hayden Seach, head of Generali GC&C Asia. “With Brendan’s extensive experience in financial lines, particularly professional indemnity (PI), i am confident that he is a strategic fit to our culture and existing business direction and we are very excited about the ongoing growth in financial lines segment.”
Prior to joining Generali GC&C, McDonald was head of liability at Oman Insurance Company. He has also held several roles at Zurich Insurance, including head of professional indemnity and casualty lines, Middle East. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the University of Birmingham in the UK.
