FWD Group will remain as the title sponsor of the 2020 North Pole Marathon, for the fourth year in a row.
According to a statement from the major Asian insurer, the run will encourage people to raise money for good causes and also remind them of the importance of preserving the environment.
Additionally, FWD will support 12 runners from across Asia to take part in the marathon, which will be held on April 13. FWD Team Asia will run to benefit charitable causes in its members’ home countries. FWD also partnered with reforestation organisation EcoMatcher to reward the runners by planting trees to offset CO2. It said that it is aiming to plant three forests across its Asia markets including the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia, which is designed to offset polluting emissions resulting from the team’s travel to the North Pole.
“We’re proud to again support the race as the title sponsor, which has given extra meaning this year through our environmental-driven initiatives,” said Tim Oliver, FWD Group chief customer and marketing officer. “The new campaign is launched not only in response to other awareness campaigns, it is also inspired by our own FWD Team Asia. Each year our runners are awe-struck by the natural and grandeur landscape of the North Pole, one that is also vulnerable to climate change. At FWD, because we pride ourselves in our challenger brand values, we know that now is the right time to start doing our part in helping preserve the environment we live in and encourage people to celebrate living.”
