FWD Group has appointed Petter Sternby as group corporate transactions officer, based in Hong Kong.
Sternby will be responsible for FWD’s efforts to align with public company standards and will report to Craig Merdian, FWD group chief financial officer, who commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Petter to the Group. He has a wealth of industry and transactional experience across Asia. His insight from the banking sector will be a tremendous asset for us moving forward.”
With over 25 years of investment banking experience spanning Asia, Europe and South America, Sternby joins from Standard Chartered Bank, where he was most recently head of the financial institutions advisory team. Prior to that, he was head of financial institutions for Greater China and North Asia. He relocated to Hong Kong in 2010 with Nomura as head of the financial institutions group in Asia, and has also previously worked for Lehman Brothers and Morgan Stanley.
Sternby has led numerous merger & acquisition, initial public offering, and equity transactions during his career. He has advised on deals involving major insurance and banking names such as SwissRe, SunLife, MetLife, UOB, and Maybank.
