Everest Insurance International has announced significant changes to its senior leadership team in Asia.
Tomi Latva-Kiskola (pictured above, left) is set to join the company as the head of insurance, Asia, from February 5, 2024. He will be reporting to Scott Leney, the head of Asia-Pacific for Everest Insurance International. Concurrently, Swee Keong Mah (pictured above, right), who currently serves as the interim regional head of insurance, Asia, and head of legal, Asia-Pacific, has been appointed as the chief executive officer of Everest Insurance Singapore, reporting to Latva-Kiskola.
Latva-Kiskola brings a wealth of experience in leading insurance operations across Asia. His most recent role was as president & CEO of AIG Insurance Hong Kong Limited, where he played a pivotal role in restructuring the regional operation and significantly improving business performance and loss ratios. His career at AIG spanned 15 years, including roles as CEO in Thailand and leading shared services in Asia and Europe.
Before joining AIG, Latva-Kiskola acted as a senior advisor to various global clients in the insurance, financial services, energy, and pharmaceutical sectors, focusing on strategy, operations, and risk management. He is an alumnus of Aston University in the UK, holding a BSc. (Hons.) in Business and Finance.
“Tomi is a highly respected leader and operator who brings significant regional experience along with a deep network of long-standing relationships spanning multiple markets. Tomi shares our commitment to the Asia market and knows how to deliver the bespoke solutions and best-in-class value proposition our customers need and deserve from a partner like Everest,” Leney said.
Mah, in his new role as CEO of Everest Insurance Singapore, will build on his substantial contributions to the firm since joining in 2022. He has been instrumental in establishing the Singapore operations for the division and is a key member of the Asia-Pacific leadership team.
Before joining Everest, Mah held several general counsel positions, including head of legal, risk & compliance for Asia and the Middle East at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance. He is a graduate of the National University of Singapore, where he earned a Bachelor of Laws (Honors), and he also holds a Master of Business Administration (Honors) from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.
“As we welcome Tomi, I also want to congratulate Swee Keong on his well-deserved appointment to CEO in Singapore. Swee Keong’s leadership and contributions during this transition have been outstanding and, under his direction, I am confident in our ability to become a preferred market leader in Asia. I look forward to working alongside our leadership team as we continue to strengthen our presence throughout the continent with Everest’s diverse capabilities and exceptional service,” Leney said.
Elsewhere for the insurance group, Everest has reported an “excellent” third quarter in terms of financial results, according to president and chief executive Juan C. Andrade.
