According to a statement by Beam, it will provide personal accident insurance coverage through a programme for all eligible Beam riders in Malaysia, Singapore, and New Zealand, placed by Aon. Meanwhile, in Australia, the cover will be placed by Marsh.
“The safety of our users is one of Beam’s key priorities. At the forefront of Beam’s vision to change the way people move is the fundamental belief that every trip must have a focus on safety,” said Christopher Hilton, vice president for corporate affairs, Beam Mobility. “This is an important step in realising our commitment to safety, and ensuring that our riders have protection and peace of mind when using our services.”
According to the summary of benefits on Beam’s website, riders in Singapore are covered for SG$50,000 for accidental death, or up to SG$50,000 for permanent disablement if they encounter an accident while riding an e-scooter from Beam.
Other benefits include up to SG$2,000 in medical expenses, up to SG$1,000 for fractured bones, and SG$250 per tooth lost up to SG$1,000. Loss or damage of personal belongings due to assault is covered for up to SG$5,000.
