US-based banking group Citi has appointed Sujoy Ghosh as head of insurance for Asia Pacific and Europe, as well as the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regions.
The appointment will be effective next month, and Ghosh will report to Gonzalo Luchetti, head of retail banking for Asia Pacific and EMEA.
Ghosh will be in charge of the bank’s insurance business in the two global regions, including sales, products, marketing, and both physical and digital distribution. He will cooperate with Citi’s cards and loans divisions in order to develop the banking group’s insurance business. He will also oversee Citi’s long-term bancassurance relationship with
AIA, which began in 2013.
Citi has identified its insurance division, which has grown by double digits each year since 2013, as an important component of the group’s recent growth, reported
Business Times.
Ghosh joins Citi from
Allianz, where he was Asia Pacific regional head for bancassurance. He was responsible for initiating and growing commercial and strategic partnerships in both life and general insurance segments.
Prior to Allianz, he worked for ING, holding several sales and insurance distribution posts such as chief sales officer in Turkey, head of bancassurance for Asia Pacific, and regional head of sales training for Asia Pacific.
