Major specialty insurer Chaucer has opened its Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) hub in the Dubai International Financial Centre.

Chaucer MENA will bring its parent company’s smart risk solutions to the region, while accessing local talent, knowledge, and expertise. It will write a broad range of specialty insurance and treaty business through Syndicate 1084 at Lloyd’s.

The new office’s operations will be headed by Fawzi Omari, who has extensive experience in specialty broking and underwriting and long-standing relationships with brokers in the region. He joined Chaucer in 2015, where he headed underwriting in the MENA region, as well as preparing for the launch of Chaucer MENA.

“I believe that having a strong local presence in the region, backed with in-depth local knowledge, will allow us to perfectly translate our highly specialised Lloyd’s underwriting skills into a smart, innovative and first class service for brokers and clients in the Middle East and North Africa,” said John Fowle, CEO of Chaucer. “This region offers great potential, and we are honoured to be here to support that.”
