International loss adjusting firm Charles Taylor is ramping up its presence in Southeast Asia, driven by an uptick in demand for specialised loss adjusting services.
In Malaysia, the firm has expanded its workforce by 20% over the past year, bringing on new talent and integrating advanced claims technology to bolster its capabilities in key sectors, including property, liability, construction, and motor insurance.
Charles Taylor’s network in Malaysia now spans multiple cities, with offices in Penang, Perak, Pahang, Melaka, Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak.
With more than 60 technical specialists, the firm’s Malaysian division aims to meet the complex demands of clients across the country.
Bala Subramaniam, managing director of Charles Taylor Malaysia, noted that the local loss adjusting industry has experienced rapid growth, driven by increased catastrophic events, evolving regulatory requirements, and a changing risk landscape.
“Malaysia’s loss adjusting industry has seen rapid expansion in recent years, driven by the rising frequency of catastrophic events, stricter regulatory requirements, and the complex landscape of risk management in the post-pandemic era,” he said.
He said that the expansion enables the firm to develop local talent by training junior and entry-level adjusters.
The firm views Malaysia as a key regional hub, supporting its broader Asian operations in Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and China.
It has announced plans for additional Malaysian branches by 2025 to further serve its growing client base.
“As Charles Taylor continues its growth journey across the region, we are committed to providing unparalleled expertise and service excellence to our clients. As we look forward to 2025, we are well-positioned to play a leading role in the rapidly evolving loss adjusting industry in Malaysia and the rest of Asia,” said Stephen Thorpe, managing director of Charles Taylor Asia.
In a parallel move to strengthen its operations in Thailand, Charles Taylor has entered an associateship with Bangkok-based Global Adjusting Technical Services (GATS), which has Thailand’s largest team of licensed and chartered loss adjusters.
GATS handles high-value and complex claims across property and casualty, construction, marine, power generation, and business interruption lines, as well as specialised areas such as professional liability and fine art insurance.
This partnership with GATS enhances Charles Taylor’s ability to provide local expertise on large-scale and technically demanding claims, an area where client demand has grown in recent years.
