The trend of insurance being bundled along with other commodities continues, with an online platform for automobile sales in India expanding to include insurance.
CarDekho, which sells new and used vehicles on its website, has launched InsuranceDekho. The new platform has tied up with over 20 motor insurance and health insurance providers, according to a report by Times of India.
Girnar Software, the platform’s parent company, gained an insurance broking licence from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India in 2017.
InsuranceDekho aims to sell around a million insurance policies per month in the next three years, and promises to provide improved aftersales support for claims and endorsements.
“InsuranceDekho is going to add immense value to the entire digital auto ecosystem which we have successfully created over the years,” said Amit Jain, co-founder and CEO of CarDekho. “We have helped people buy the best suited cars for themselves and now they will get the best suited insurance.”
“Insurance buying in India is often an opaque process where customers are not always aware of what they are paying for – exclusions and inclusions both,” said Ankit Agrawal, CEO of Girnar Insurance Brokers, a sister company of InsuranceDekho. “We want to make the process an interactive and educative experience by helping the customer understand what he is buying. InsuranceDekho will make the process transparent through its advisory-led model and provide the best-in-class post sales experience.”
