Global specialty and P&C re/insurer Canopius Group has announced the appointment of Olivia Brindle as head of sustainability.
Brindle assumes the role effective immediately and will report to Lindsay Astor, chief of staff and head of strategy.
As head of sustainability, Brindle will oversee Canopius’ sustainability initiatives, both internally and externally, ensuring alignment within a cohesive strategy. Her role will focus on advancing Canopius’ efforts to drive environmental and social resilience.
She will also establish and maintain sustainable underwriting guidelines and promote new products, enabling the company to pursue its sustainability goals while influencing broader practices across the insurance sector and society.
Brindle brings 16 years of experience in consulting, financial markets, and (re)insurance to her new role. She joins Canopius from The Fidelis Partnership, where she developed the sustainability function and contributed to key milestones.
Previously, she held positions at Swiss Re, initially in P&C Solutions and later in investor relations, following a career as an equity analyst covering (re)insurance for global investment banks. Brindle began her career in strategy consulting and holds an academic background in finance.

Astor said that Brindle’s appointment marks a significant step in Canopius’ sustainability strategy.
“She brings exceptional credentials and is a genuine pioneer in the implementation of sustainability practices in insurance. Sustainability has always been a key strategic pillar for Canopius, and I’m delighted to welcome Olivia to the team,” Astor said.
Brindle said that joining Canopius offers an opportunity to engage with an organization that prioritizes sustainability.
