Bowtie, a digital-only life insurance company in Hong Kong, is extending its Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme (VHIS) product to medical workers.
According to the company, the move shows appreciation to medical staff that are on the frontlines of the battle against COVID-19.
The company released two YouTube videos featuring former Hong Kong Financial Secretary John Tsang, now a senior adviser at the insurer. In the first one, Tsang and other individuals talked about how Hong Kong came together to deal with the SARS outbreak in 2003. It also showed how Bowtie worked with the MIT Hong Kong Innovation Node to distribute 10,000 bottles of hand sanitizers to Bowtie’s clients and partner organisations, focusing on the underprivileged.
In the second video, several medical staff talked about their various worries as they face the present outbreak. Tsang then announced that Bowtie will provide free VHIS plans to medical workers and their immediate families, as a gesture of appreciation for their sacrifices.
“We want to fight against the virus, together with you,” Tsang said in the video.
