Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has officially announced the appointment of Jess Au as the new head of general property in Asia, according to a press release. Based in Singapore, Au succeeds Ophelia Szeto, who is retiring after a nearly decade with the company.
“Jess takes the reins of our general property portfolio with more than 20 years of experience in Asia. I look forward to working with her as we continue to build and expand BHSI’s long-term relationships in the region,” said Marc Breuil, regional president for Asia Middle East at BHSI. “I also want to thank Ophelia for her work and her dedication in establishing our commercial property presence in Asia and we wish her success in her next endeavors.”
Au brings a wealth of technical expertise and market insight garnered from her experience across various regional managing and underwriting roles in the Singapore market. Au is an alumna of Nanyang Technological University, with a major in Insurance.
Headquartered in the US, BHSI offers general property coverage in Asia across diverse classes, including manufacturing, infrastructure, real estate, and stand-alone natural catastrophe coverage.
In the Asia Middle East region, BHSI underwrites on the paper of Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Company, which holds financial strength ratings of A++ from AM Best and AA+ from Standard & Poor’s.
