Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), the country’s central bank, has appointed Aznan Abdul Aziz as assistant governor, effective July 01.
According to a statement from BNM, Aznan will be in charge of the payments oversight, financial conglomerates supervision, banking supervision, insurance and takaful supervision, as well as risk specialist and technology supervision departments, state news service Bernama reported.
Aznan is a career official at BNM, having served in several departments across the organisation, such as the financial conglomerates supervision, governor’s office, Islamic banking and takaful, and financial surveillance. Prior to joining BNM, he was assistant general manager at state-owned firm Danamodal Nasional Bhd and AmBank Group before that.
He holds a degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of Bristol in the UK.
