Broking giant Aon Plc will have a new chief operating officer two months from now.
Joining the business on October 10 is Mindy Simon, who will replace James Platt as COO. Platt has now become the group’s chief digital officer after serving as chief operating officer from June 2021. Chief financial officer Christa Davies, in the interim, will be in charge of operations prior to Simon’s arrival.
“With James transitioning into his new role, we have asked Christa Davies to expand her portfolio to include responsibility for Aon Business Services,” said Aon chief executive Greg Case.
“Together, we are excited to welcome Mindy Simon to the firm. Mindy brings a unique combination of global business services experience, technology expertise, and client service success to the chief operating officer role.”
Meanwhile Platt, as chief digital officer, will oversee Aon’s Digital Client Solutions. He has been with the company since September 2014. Platt’s previous posts include Aon Inpoint CEO, Aon Risk Solutions data & analytics head, as well as various COO functions within the group.
Case commented: “Aon’s Digital Client Solutions are powering our ability to reach underserved segments of our client base in ways that were not possible only a few years ago.
“James is the right leader to further accelerate the great work our team is doing across digital channels. Our clients want more efficient access to innovative digital solutions, and we’re doubling down to address that need.”
Platt is based in London, reporting to Aon president Eric Andersen, while Simon will report to Davies while situated in Nebraska. The incoming executive committee member is making the shift from food company Conagra Brands where she is currently chief information officer.
Simon stated: “I’m excited to be joining a high-performing firm with a commitment to exceptional client service. Aon recognises the importance global business services plays in delivering differentiated value to clients.
“I admire the scale and sophistication of Aon Business Services and look forward to working with the team to build on the significant impact they already have on operating performance.”
