Aon plc has announced the appointment of Rishi Mehra as the new head of its India operations, effective immediately.
Mehra (pictured) will be stationed in Mumbai, reporting to Anne Corona, CEO for the Asia Pacific region at Aon. His appointment brings him onto Aon's Asia Pacific executive committee and into its global executive leadership team.
Mehra's responsibilities will include collaborating with Jon Pipe, CEO and principal officer of Aon India Insurance Brokers, and Nitin Sethi, CEO of Aon Consulting Private Limited. Together, they plan to integrate Aon's diverse offerings in risk, health, wealth, and talent consulting into a unified leadership framework. This integration aims to leverage Aon's expertise and solutions to serve clients throughout India more effectively.
An essential part of Mehra's role will be facilitating the integration of Global Insurance Brokers over the next year. This strategic move is poised to enhance Aon's service delivery in India by amalgamating more than 1,000 Aon professionals into a cohesive team.
“I am delighted to unite India under Rishi's leadership,” Corona said. “His business acumen, combined with his experience as CFO, will accelerate our ability to deliver Aon United capabilities to our clients. Rishi will build on the team's success and strengthen collaboration across India to help our clients shape business decisions for the better.”
“I am very excited and humbled to lead an extremely talented and driven team in India.” Mehra said. “We have so much opportunity ahead of us in a very unique and thriving economy, and I look forward to working with the team to unlock India's growth potential leveraging our risk capital and human capital capabilities to deliver insights and scalable solutions to help our clients make better decisions to protect and grow their businesses.”
Mehra has been with Aon since 2003, occupying several key finance roles across the Asia Pacific and Greater China regions. Before his tenure at Aon, he held roles at PepsiCo and PWC in India, focusing on consulting and business planning.
Mehra is set to begin his transition to his new role immediately, with a move to Mumbai scheduled by mid-2024.
