Specialty property-casualty insurer AmTrust Financial Services has announced the formation of a new leadership team for its excess and surplus division, promoting and expanding the roles of five executives. Erich Bublitz, senior vice president, will lead the division and will report to Dan Hickey, president of AmTrust Specialty Insurance.
“AmTrust has built a team of some of the best excess and surplus professionals in the business,” Bublitz said. “I am honoured to now be leading this team and look forward to driving an exceptional 2022. The new leadership team will support a unified national underwriting appetite, with a focus on specific industry segments, and continue our dedicated wholesale distribution strategy.”
“I am very excited about the future of AmTrust’s E&S group and am confident that this team will increase our leadership position in the industry and further our reputation as a highly responsive E&S underwriter,” Hickey said.
Bublitz recently joined AmTrust from the Admiral Insurance Group, where he most recently served as senior vice president of operations. In addition to Bublitz, the new E&S leadership team includes:
Shannon Piotrowski has been promoted to vice president, brokerage new business team. Piotrowski previously served as director of underwriting with responsibility for the Central and Southern new business teams. She has been with AmTrust E&S for more than four years. Prior to that, she served in brokerage underwriting positions with other leading carriers.

Jackie Hennig will lead the unsupported excess team. In this role, Hennig will be responsible for building and leading the underwriting team, setting the underwriting strategy, and achieving underwriting profit objectives. She previously served as the leading production underwriter for the unit and was instrumental in the company’s successful launch of the product last year.
Christopher Fylak will expand the binding platform. Fylak has served as an executive member of the E&S leadership team since 2017 and will continue in this role with an expanded focus on developing and enhancing AmTrust’s E&S binding platform to improve the experience for the company’s agent partners.
