In line with its parent firm’s sustainability efforts, Allianz PNB Life has announced its commitment to using 100% renewable energy by 2023.
Globally, Allianz has been carbon neutral since 2012, according to a statement from the global insurer’s Philippine joint venture. The company also focuses on investing in companies with sustainable business practices that deliver long-term value via its Philippine Peso-hedged Global Sustainability Equity Fund. Allianz has topped the list of the world’s most sustainable insurers in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for three consecutive years.
The announcements were made during a recent sustainability forum hosted by Allianz PNB. The forum featured speakers from different industries discussing climate change and the environment and how individuals, companies, and governments can help address its various concerns.
Benjamin Yong, Allianz Global Investors Singapore regional channel sales manager, discussed the environmental factors that go into Allianz’s sustainable investing initiative, which covers companies’ carbon footprint, water usage, waste management, and pollution mitigation.
Other guest speakers included Arnold Grant Belver, senior science research specialist from the Philippines’ Climate Change Commission, Antonito Miguel Ramos, a licensed urban planner and innovation manager for Palafox, and Rosalina de Guzman, chief of the climate data section of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
