AIA Group has launched the AIA One Billion campaign, which seeks to engage a billion people to help them live healthier and longer lives by 2030.
The insurer will embark on various partnerships, events and community programmes to encourage everyone from all walks of life to lead healthier lifestyles and help secure a healthier planet.
While the pandemic has made people more aware of the importance of health and wellness, populations in Asia continue to see an increase in lifestyle-related diseases, accounting for more than 70% of all deaths. The World Health Organisation has also warned that climate change will increase morbidity and mortality, especially in Asia.
AIA Group chief marketing officer Stuart A. Spencer said the insurer will play a positive role at the forefront of helping communities address these issues.
“Launching AIA One Billion extends our purpose of helping people live healthier, longer, better lives far beyond our immediate customer base,” Spencer said. “AIA One Billion underscores AIA’s commitment to engage, educate and inspire communities across Asia to improve physical, mental and environmental wellness while championing financial inclusion.”
To kickstart the programme, a regional social media campaign, known as Join the Journey, has been launched. AIA ambassadors across the region will support the initiative and rally people to act and adopt healthier habits.
AIA said that it also aims to become a global leader in environmental, social and governance (ESG). The insurer said it will strengthen its long-term strategy to advance the sustainable development of communities. As part of its ESG reporting, AIA will track, measure, and report on progress towards the goal to engage 1 billion people by 2030.
