AIA Cambodia has appointed Andrew Loh (pictured) as its chief executive officer, effective May 01. He will report to Tan Hak Leh, regional chief executive and group chief life operations officer.
Loh joined AIA in 2017 and is currently chief financial officer of the insurer’s Malaysia business, where he helped drive the corporate strategy and contributed significantly to growth, a company statement said. He will succeed Pauline Teoh, who will be appointed CEO, group partnership distribution. Teoh will relocate to Hong Kong for her new role.
“I am delighted that Andrew will be our new CEO in Cambodia,” said Tan. “Andrew has a superb track record of delivery and execution and is well placed to lead our business in Cambodia. I have full confidence that Andrew will provide great leadership and that AIA Cambodia will reach new levels of growth.
“I also want to take this opportunity to thank Pauline for her significant contribution to AIA Cambodia’s success over the past few years. Her dedication, professionalism and insights have been invaluable and I know she will do a wonderful job in her new role.”
AIA Cambodia opened its doors in May 2017, with its office in the country’s capital, Phnom Penh. Cambodia has among the lowest insurance penetration rates in Southeast Asia, but its young population, growing middle class, and strong economic growth are positives for insurers such as AIA.
