AIA Group has appointed Jayne Plunkett as chief risk officer, effective November 01, succeeding Mitch New, who has been serving on an interim basis since March.
Plunkett will be part of the group’s executive committee and will report to Ng Keng Hooi, AIA’s president and CEO. Meanwhile, New will continue in his role as group general counsel.
“Jayne is a widely-respected insurance professional across Asia’s insurance sector with a proven track record of success,” Ng said in a statement. “I know that we will benefit from the breadth and depth of Jayne’s experience and I am delighted to welcome her to AIA to lead our group risk and compliance function.”
Plunkett joins AIA from Swiss Re where she was CEO for reinsurance and regional president for Asia. She has been with Swiss Re since 2006, having held several senior roles such as head of casualty underwriting for Asia and the global head of casualty reinsurance. She began her insurance career in 1992 at John Deere Insurance Company, and later worked at GE Insurance Solutions before it was acquired by Swiss Re.
She is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
