Allianz Commercial has appointed Claudia Valencia (pictured) as its first-ever global head of portfolio solutions.

Effective on January 8 next year, the appointment will see Valencia report to Allianz Commercial chief underwriting officer Shanil Williams and global head of distribution Jeremy Sharpe while based in London.

The key hire, who is a Zurich alumnus, is joining from AIG’s New York office where she latterly served as Latin America regional head of client and broker engagement.   

In an emailed release, Williams said: “The commercial and specialty market continues to grow in this area, and therefore the time is right to bring a coherent global strategy across all our business. Claudia has extensive global experience in both underwriting and distribution roles, and I am delighted to have her on board.”

Valencia’s remit will span panels, facilities, managing general agents, bancassurance, and other forms of delegated authority.
