Independent specialist re/insurance broker Miller has announced the appointment of Elizabeth McGonagle (pictured above) as head of power for the Asia Pacific region.
McGonagle brings over 10 years of experience in the energy and power sectors. Before joining Miller, she served as regional director at Howden Singapore, where she oversaw power client services and broking operations.
She previously spent seven years at Willis Towers Watson, where her most recent role was division director for natural resources, power, and renewables in Asia.
The appointment aligns with Miller’s broader strategy to expand its energy, power, and construction capabilities across the Asia Pacific region. The firm said that it has identified growth opportunities in the sector and aims to deliver specialized solutions to clients in a market it describes as historically underserved.
McGonagle, who will be based in Singapore, is set to join the firm in January 2025 and will report to Matthew Hooker, Miller’s head of energy & marine for the Asia Pacific region.
Hooker noted that demand for specialist expertise in the Asia Pacific power market continues to grow.
“As a leading figure in the Asia power market, her decision to join us is testament to the team we are growing and further strengthens our ability to offer clients tailored solutions,” he said. “The Asia power industry presents strong growth opportunities in the coming years, particularly as the economy transitions from conventional fuels to low-carbon and carbon-free energy generation; something that Liz is extremely well-placed to help clients navigate.”
McGonagle expressed enthusiasm for her new role, emphasizing the opportunities for growth and innovation in the Asia Pacific market.
“The Asia Pacific region presents immense opportunities for growth and innovation, and with Miller’s strong reputation and growing momentum, I look forward to building on this success and helping clients confidently navigate these challenges and opportunities,” she said.
