China Reinsurance (Group) Corporation has announced that Wang Xiaoya has retired from her position as a non-executive director, effective Dec. 2.

Wang’s departure comes in accordance with the statutory retirement age. Her resignation also concludes her roles as vice chairwoman and as a member of the board’s risk management, strategy and sustainable development, and audit committees.

Wang joined the board of China Re in August 2019. During her tenure, she participated in various committees and contributed to the company’s governance and strategic initiatives.

In a statement accompanying her retirement, Wang noted that she has no disagreements with the board and that no additional matters require the attention of the company’s shareholders.

China Re expressed its appreciation for Wang’s contributions in an announcement from the board, thanking her for her service and the value she brought to the organization.

Earlier this year, China Re also confirmed that Ye Mei has officially started her role as a director following approval by the National Administration of Financial Regulation (NAFR), as previously announced on Dec. 20, 2023.

Her term commenced on Feb. 29, 2024, and will continue until the end of the fifth board session.

Ye’s career includes a wealth of roles across a number of companies in re/insurance and other industries. Concurrent to this position, she also holds board roles with Jamieson Wellness, Bekaert, Rhodes Trust, and the New York Military Academy (NYMA).

Prior to this, she held roles at Eurazeo, McKinsey & Company, Hansgrohe, Stanford Global Projects Center, Shenwan Hongyuan Group, Gartner/Dataquest, and more.

Following Wang Xiaoya’s retirement, China Re’s complete board of directors is as follows:

  • He Chunlei (chairman)
  • Zhuang Qianzhi (vice chairman)
  • Yang Changsong (non-executive director)
  • Li Wenfeng (non-executive director)
  • Jiang Bo (independent non-executive director)
  • Dai Deming (independent non-executive director)
  • Ye Mei (independent non-executive director)
