The property and casualty insurance provider Sompo International has appointed Glen Bronstein executive vice president and head of insurance claims for North America. He will be in charge of claims across Bermuda, Canada, Mexico, and the US in his new role.

Bronstein will now be a part of the Bermuda-based insurer’s regional insurance executive leadership team. He will be responsible for overseeing the entirety of Sompo International’s North America insurance claims and claims teams. He will also supervise the development and execution of claims strategies for the regional market and report to Chris Sparro, CEO of Sompo International, North America.

Before he was named Sompo International’s newest executive vice president and regional head of insurance claims for North America, Bronstein served as head of global specialty claims for The Hartford and global chief claim officer of the Navigators Group. Similar to his role in Sompo International, these jobs entrusted him with overseeing their US and international specialty claims units.

Bronstein also held a variety of senior executive roles at other household industry names – including general counsel for some operating entities – rounding three decades’ worth of international insurance experience and bringing them all back to Sompo.

“As a highly visible leader who has driven change and transformation across the claims function, Glen will focus on further enhancing Sompo International’s delivery of best-in-class technical capabilities, partnership with underwriting and distribution management, customer service, and leveraging advanced data science to monitor the business environment for emerging trends,” said Sparro. “We are very excited to have him join the Sompo International team.”

Sompo International currently hires approximately 10,000 employees, while Sompo Holdings boasts 75,000 employees total worldwide, entities operating in over 46 countries to date, and A+ (superior) financial strength ratings from A.M. Best and an A+ (strong) rating from Standard and Poor’s on its principal operating subsidiaries.
