Markel Group has elevated Chloe Gordge (pictured above) to head of terrorism in London, with immediate effect, as the company focuses on bolstering its position in the terrorism insurance market and pursuing expansion across its portfolios in Asia, London, and the United States.

Gordge, who has been with the company for over 11 years, initially started as an underwriting assistant.

Her tenure at Markel has also been marked by her role in the launch of the active assailant product offering aimed at US-domiciled businesses, which included creating the product wording and developing a specific rating tool for US clients.

Markel notes that her diligent work in underwriting has significantly enhanced her leadership standing within the company leading to her current elevation.

In her new role, Gordge will manage the day-to-day operations of Markel’s London terrorism portfolio. She will oversee the team's underwriting strategy, which focuses on creating leading insurance solutions for an evolving threat landscape.

Additionally, Gordge will maintain her commitment to the professional development of her team members.

Gordge will report to Ed Winter, director of terrorism in London, who praised her promotion and noted the enhancements she has brought in the past 11 years.

“During her time at Markel, she’s been pivotal in forging strong relationships with broker partners and helping to drive profitable business growth, while remaining agile and adaptable in her approach to providing market-leading coverage for our terrorism clients,” Winter said.

“I look forward to seeing Chloe bring her fresh and innovate ideas to the table, so we can continue growing the team and building on our impregnable reputation as a leading terrorism insurer in the London Market,” he said.

Back in February, Markel Group has also announced executive changes as it broadened executive vice president Mike Heaton’s remit, appointing him as both EVP and chief operating officer.
