Insurance giant XL Catlin has appointed Bermuda executive Christophe Chandler as head of specialty reinsurance in London.
Chandler, who is XL Catlin’s former underwriting director for reinsurance in Bermuda, has relocated to the English capital to take up his new role, the insurer said.
Jonathan Gale, reinsurance chief executive in London, said that Chandler has an “excellent reputation and proven track record” in the Lloyd’s, Bermuda and continental European markets.
“I worked with Christophe directly in Bermuda and am very pleased that he has agreed to lead our Specialty team in London and develop this important business for XL Catlin,” Gale said.
Chandler has more than 20 years of experience in the re/insurance industry. He joined Catlin in 2002 as an international property treaty underwriter first in London then Bermuda.
In 2010, Chandler helped establish Catlin Re Switzerland serving as underwriting director for property. He then moved to Bermuda in 2014 as chief underwriting officer at Catlin.
Chandler also held roles at Cox Insurance and Willis during the earlier part of his career.
