Seasoned digital transformation and customer strategy executive Henna Karna has been appointed as chief data officer of global insurer XL Catlin.
Karna will start in her new role later this month and will report to chief platform officer Myron Hendry.
According to XL Group CEO Mike McGavick, Karna will work closely with venture capital initiative XL Innovate, innovation team Accelerate and other businesses and functions throughout XL Catlin.
McGavick said Karna will be involved in enhancing data, analytics and innovation to help expand XL Catlin’s offerings.
“Her vision and experience in designing digital innovations while motivating multi-discipline teams to deliver solutions fully aligns with XL Catlin’s focus on being a market leader in providing superior products and services to our colleagues and clients,” McGavick said.
The company said Karna’s “unique background” in genetic algorithms, cognitive learning, behaviour modelling, deep neural networks and digital strategy will be a “valuable asset”.
Karna was the former president of Verisk Digital Services. She also served as actuarial chief information officer and managing director at
AIG.
An advisor to Fortune 500 companies on digital innovation and disruption, Karna has also designed and developed patent-pending technology and applications in the field of digital-data technologies in insurance.
Karna is a frequent speaker at key industry events related to analytics and technology. She is also the author of several articles in national publications on the topic of data and digital.
