In an amusing Facebook challenge, one teenager who cannot afford car insurance got one insurer to shoulder a payment that he needed.
Alex Williams, a 17-year-old student at Coleg Ceredigion in Aberystwyth, sent a Facebook message to insurance provider Autosaint to seek help,
Wales Online reported.
Williams suggested to Autosaint that if his Facebook post gets a certain number of likes, the insurer would pay his £300 deposit.
In a reply to Williams, Autosaint said they “like[d] his cheekiness” and agreed to make the payment if his Facebook post hits 5,000 likes in a week.
The youngster got the likes in just a day,
Wales Online said.
According to the report, Williams had to spend out on his Vauxhall Corsa “due to a series of unfortunate events.”
He told
Wales Online that he decided to try his luck and seek help from Autosaint as he was spending all his money on education.
Williams said he was “pleasantly surprised” by the insurer’s response.
An Autosaint spokesperson told
Wales Online that Williams’s Facebook message made their management team laugh.
The spokesman said they never expected Williams to complete the Facebook dare.
“We’ve given the £300 pound deposit to Alex - fair play to him, he hit the target! He smashed it!”
Wales Online quoted the spokesman as saying.
