Subject to regulatory approval, Richard Clapham will be moving to the
DUAL group as regional CEO of
DUAL Europe and
DUAL UK.
Clapham is joining DUAL group, the underwriting arm of
Hyperion Insurance Group, from XL Catlin. He will be responsible for DUAL’s operations in the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Poland and Finland and oversee almost US$500 million of premiums.
With over 30 years’ experience in the industry, Clapham has previously lead Markel’s professional indemnity division and has spent a decade at XL Catlin, where he was a member of the group underwriting board, a director of Catlin Underwriting Agency Ltd and a member of the UK executive committee.
CEO of DUAL International Talbir Bains, who Clapham will be reporting to, welcomed the appointment.
“Richard is a first-class addition to the team,” he said. “His extensive experience of running and growing high quality multi-line underwriting operations makes him very well suited to DUAL as we continue on the next phase of our growth story.”
Clapham said DUAL’s focus on underwriting excellence and operational efficiency combined with entrepreneurial spirit made the job a unique proposition.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to help deliver something different in the industry and particularly to be a part of a group whose aim is to build a collegiate business where people are empowered to deliver,” he said.
He is scheduled to join DUAL on September 5.
