The County Group has acquired NMJ Insurance Brokers, with all existing staff and premises to remain the same.
The local community broker, founded in 2009 by executive directors Nick Potts and Mike Hutton, has four main sites in Glossop, Scunthorpe, Belper, and Bakewell. It offers a range of both personal and commercial insurance products.
“We’ve known the senior team at The County Group for many years and have been impressed with how they’ve run and grown their business,” commented Potts, who will stay as a consultant for six months after the acquisition.
For Hutton, he believes the business – a £7.5 million gross written premium (GWP) broker – will continue to prosper under the stewardship of The County Group.
“I’m delighted to welcome another fantastic brokerage to The County Group,” said The County Group chief executive Dave Clapp. “I have known Mike and Nick for many years and admired their business from afar.”
Clapp continued: “They have entrusted NMJ Insurance to The County Group and we will continue to build on the exceptional work they have done in developing the business and supporting their people to deliver a fantastic service to their clients.”
He said The County Group’s business model is built around “great people delivering a great service” from all its locations throughout the UK. “We now have a larger footprint to deliver this from,” added Clapp.
With the acquisition, The County Group now controls in excess of £80 million GWP.
