The specialist Lloyd’s insurer formerly known as Marketform has started growing its international footprint after recently adopting a new name.
Neon, the rebranded insurance business, has opened an office in Bermuda to expand its access to both local and US markets.
Located at 29 Victoria Street, Hamilton, the new office is now writing business and will be headed up by Chris Fisher, a local underwriter with 25 years of experience in Bermuda, the US and the UK.
“Opening the Bermuda office is a strong statement of our intent to expand Neon’s international presence and grow the business,” said Neon CEO Martin Reith.
Reith said the company has “bold ambitions” to grow its Bermudian platform and that it would add both personnel and product lines in the near future.
“More broadly, opening in Bermuda, which follows the completion of our strategic review, is a further sign of the momentum within Neon as we continue to make encouraging progress with the strategic turnaround of the business.”
Fisher will initially write direct and facultative property insurance on a global basis as an approved coverholder for Lloyd’s Syndicate 2468.
Following Fisher’s appointment, the insurer said it would make several local hires as the Bermudian office expands.
Fisher joins Neon from Ariel Re in Bermuda, where he worked for nine years and most recently served as chief underwriter of insurance.
He started his career at BF&M General Insurance and later held various senior underwriting and executive roles at ACE.
