Specialist insurer Markel International is supporting a 1,900-mile kayaking challenge to raise money for Get Exploring Trust.
As part of its support, the insurance firm is sponsoring the GPS equipment needed for the kayaking journey from Miami, Florida, to Caribbean country Grenada.
Proceeds will go to Get Exploring Trust, a charity that aims to inspire people to get into the outdoors and push their limits in different environments.
Durham University students Will McCreadie and George Parry founded the organisation, which offers grants to individuals who need financial support in pursuing outdoor challenges and experiences to hone themselves.
McCreadie and Parry will set off to become the first British kayaking team to cross the Caribbean, paddling a distance equivalent to the English Channel each day for over 10 weeks.
“We are delighted to sponsor the Golden Arc Expedition and hope that the challenge will inspire other young people to show gritty determination to overcome risks in order to succeed in unusual or demanding circumstances,” said Markel president William Stovin.
