Brokerage giant Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) has teamed up with disaster relief charity RedR to help victims of conflicts and natural catastrophes worldwide.

The insurance broker will partner with RedR through fundraising activities and by engaging employees with the work of the charity in its global staff development and volunteering programmes.

RedR runs humanitarian training and support projects in most disaster-prone countries, ensuring that vital skills and knowledge remain in devastated areas.

The charity has responded to major disasters including the conflict in Syria, Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, floods in Pakistan and the Haiti earthquake.

JLT will hold its first fundraising event for RedR on September 27 at the brokerage’s London office.

“JLT partners with charities whose focus complements our own, helping us make a positive contribution to the communities in which we live and work,” said Mark Drummond Brady, JLT deputy group CEO.

“With RedR we can now help to deliver support for those caught up in catastrophe – something we know our colleagues care deeply about,” he added.

RedR CEO Martin McCann welcomed JLT as the charity’s new corporate patron, saying the company understands “the importance of mitigating and managing risk.”

“Our focus on preparedness helps to alleviate the impact of disasters and ensure communities can rebuild their lives and livelihoods, and JLT’s support will allow us to continue and develop this vital work,” McCann said.
